Privacy

VCMC has no accounts and no advertising, and counts visits without cookies unless you accept them. This page says what personal data the site handles, why, and how to ask about it.

Who is responsible

The data controller is SC Dataworks Research SRL (trading as Veridion), Str. Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino 14 E, 100010 Ploiesti, Prahova, Romania.

For anything on this page, write to contact@vcmarketcap.com with the subject line "Privacy".

When you visit

  • No cookies unless you accept them on the cookie banner (Cookies and local storage below). There are no advertising or social media trackers.
  • We count visits with PostHog, without cookies. When a page opens, your browser sends PostHog, through vcmarketcap.com, the page address, the page you came from, and your browser, system and screen size. Search terms are part of the page address, so they are sent too.
  • PostHog does not store your IP address. On its servers it turns your IP address, browser and our site into a code, with a key that changes every day, and keeps only the code. Unless you accept the analytics cookie, no profile of you is built and we cannot recognise you from one day to the next. We use the counts to see which pages are read and to improve the site (legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • The web server records each request: IP address, browser, the page asked for and the time. Search terms are part of the page address, so they appear there too. We use these records to keep the site secure and running (legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and keep them only as long as that needs.

Cookies and local storage

On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept an analytics cookie. Until you answer, and if you reject it, visits are counted without cookies as described above. If you accept, PostHog sets a cookie with a random ID for your browser, so we can tell a returning visitor from a new one and see how people move through the site (your consent, GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

What the site stores in your browser
NameWhereTypePurposeKept
__ph_opt_in_out_<project>Local storageStrictly necessaryRemembers whether you accepted or rejected the analytics cookie, so the banner does not ask againUntil you clear it
ph_<project>_posthogCookie, and a copy in local storageAnalytics, only if you acceptA random ID for your browser and the state of your visit12 months (the local storage copy until you reject or clear it)
ph_<project>_posthog_cpmCookieAnalytics, only if you acceptNotes which of PostHog's settings are kept in the cookie above12 months
vcmc-themeLocal storageFunctional, only if you pick a themeYour light or dark theme, so the page does not flash. It is never sent to usUntil you clear it

<project> stands for VCMC's PostHog project key, which starts with phc_. If you reject, PostHog sets no cookie: visits are still counted without cookies, and only your choice is stored.

To change your choice, use "Cookie preferences" at the foot of any page. If you reject after accepting, the analytics cookies and their copy are deleted. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything in the table, and the banner asks again.

When you write to us

We use your address and your message to answer you and to act on what you asked, and keep the exchange as long as the request and any follow-up need it (legitimate interest, or a legal obligation for legal requests).

People named in the data

Company pages name a company's founders in a sentence, taken from public sources such as company websites and funding announcements. We use the names to say who founded the company (legitimate interest). There are no pages about people, and no contact details, photos or profiles.

You can object to this, or ask for a name to be corrected or removed, at contact@vcmarketcap.com. The takedown policy says when a name is removed.

Who else handles it

  • Hetzner Online GmbH hosts the site on servers in Germany.
  • Cloudflare carries every request to the site, protects it from attacks, passes the visit counts on to PostHog, and routes email sent to vcmarketcap.com addresses. It may process data outside the European Economic Area under its data processing terms.
  • PostHog counts visits for us and keeps the counts on its servers in the European Union.

We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your personal data, and for it to be corrected, deleted or restricted; you can object to its use and ask for a copy in a portable format. Write to contact@vcmarketcap.com. We answer within one month.

You can also complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro), or to the authority where you live.
